Special Attack

Abilities are the special attacks attached to each medal. These abilities are utilized by dragging the medal from the corner into combat. Abilities are either single target or area of effect, referring to the number of enemies struck by the attack, and all abilities have an Ability Gauge cost which must be paid to execute the attack.Some rare medals might have an area of effect ability which is normally single target; these variation abilities will have a higher cost for use.

The number of attacks made by abilities tends to increase as the medal increases in power. For example, Yuna's Ability has one attack at 1★ and 2★, two attacks at 3★, 4★ and 5★, and three attacks at 6★.

Damage for a medal's ability is determined by a multiplier, attached to each medal. This multiplier can be increased through Synthesis. Increasing a medal's power can also be achieved by melding Chip medals to increase attack power, through Guilt, and by positioning medals in slots on your Keyblade that have a multiplier. Some abilities have a multiplier range, and increase in power if certain requirements are met. For example, Sonic Rave increases in power if used against an enemy inflicted with the Sleep status, and Zantetsuken increases in power when the player's HP is low.

Ars Arcanum (Japanese: Last Arcanum) is a single target ability that becomes more powerful the closer the user is to full HP.

Ars Solum (Japanese: Solo Arcanum) is an area of effect ability that deals heavy damage and inflicts a magic defense debuff for 1 turn.

Attack Up Double II is a single target ability that raises attack power by two steps for the current medal and the next medal. This is an increase of approximately 50% to damage.

Attack Up Double EX is a single target ability that raises attack power by two steps, and restores a large amount of the user's HP when used.

Blade of Seven (Japanese: Seventh Blade) is an area of effect ability which has no attribute, meaning it will always deal neutral damage to enemies regardless of their attribute.

Blitz Raid

Blitz Raid (Japanese: Rush Raid) is an area of effect attack that becomes more powerful as full turns (rotations between the enemies and you) occur. Note that this was previously thought to be stronger by being placed in later slots on keyblades; that is not the case.
