stats to add (if not generic across all medals)
- exp granted -- CONFIRMED GENERIC ([1])
- cost to level -- CONFIRMED GENERIC ([2] and EXP per level [3])
- stats gained by leveling -- CONFIRMED GENERIC, but still nailing down specific values
- sell price -- CONFIRMED GENERIC ([4])
- cost--very certain that this is common across attack medals
- random target icon
- JP set
- NA set
- Generic Medals category (poss. by filter family)
Discussion
Okay, I've confirmed the following:
- The "MAX" str and def stats follow the same progression for every medal, so all we need is the starting stats -- the progression can be covered at Medals. I'm still trying to nail down exactly what the complete progression is, but I can confirm that a LV 100 6* Medal will always have ~1.2978x the STR and DEF it had at LV 1. I believe it's rounded, rather than floored, but I'm still trying to finetune an algorithm that always returns the same numbers that are in the game. Anyone who can provide STR and DEF stats for a medal or two at various LV between 1 and 100 would be appreciated. In any case, we have no need whatsoever for the MAX tabs.
- The "MAX" dmg multiplier stat differs between Medals, but as far as I can tell, stays the same for Medals that share the same special attack. So, there's some experimentation needed to figure out if there's a regular, describable progression for each special attack, but it looks like we don't even need to retain "dmg" or "spdesc" in the template, since they appear to always stay the same for that special attack, and so can be covered on a page listing info for special attacks. "Target" we might need to keep, unless NA Judy and Nick are the only outliers -- I haven't found any others yet, but I'm not willing to rule that out. "Bonus" does definitely vary -- common, rare, and epic medals can have the same special attack, but be in different SAB classes.
- The EXP a Medal grants definitely varies by its level, and may even vary by its current EXP. I believe there's also a factor of whether the Medal is the same character/attribute, but I haven't fully tested it.
- Pretty sure the sell price is set across medals, but that's another one we'd have to put in a table. If someone wants to start a google doc for the stats being investigated (LV 1 STR, LV 1 DEF, LV X STR, LV X DEF, LV 1 DMG, LV X DMG, LV 1 SELL, LV X SELL, EXP calculations), that would be awesome.KrytenKoro (talk) 14:32, 14 May 2016 (PDT)
Ready to use?
I saw this template on the Wakka page and it looks like it's the new version of the current template. I'd be happy to start adding it to the pages but I don't want to cause any complications if you guys are already planning on something or still working on it. --Seasalt icecream (talk) 15:57, 29 May 2016 (PDT)
- I can't find any more stats to put in it. One thing I will request -- the 6* max stats appear to follow a progression that is generic to all medals, so they don't need to be part of the individual medal articles, *BUT* we're still trying to run calculations to find a best fit formula. If you can move those stats to a common appendix so we can still compare from them, or just comment them out so they don't show up but are still findable, that would be great. It looks like we're going to do the same for Special Attack stats, too.KrytenKoro (talk) 05:50, 31 May 2016 (PDT)
- Alright, cool. Is this an okay format for them? I can add more as I go through the pages. --Seasalt icecream (talk) 13:12, 31 May 2016 (PDT)
Problems
Is it possible for the special attack be linked like Ability#{{{spatk}}? Because as it is it makes the special attack it's own page. Unless we're going to do a whole bunch of redirects for each ability? -Rikki21 16:58, 9 June 2016 (PDT)
- I was figuring we'd have redirects, so people can search for the attack by attack. This also makes it easier to expand into full articles if we ever decide to.KrytenKoro (talk) 17:13, 9 June 2016 (PDT)
- The template breaks when adding the different album id's (See: Tidus). I think perhaps if you switch it around and made the "jpno" before "nano", it wouldn't quite fix it (and search for both), but since most of the files uploaded have the Japanese IDs, it would have the picture show up, at least (If I switch the numbers, I can get the pictures to show up, but then it has the JP# instead of the EN, even though the variable is NA. Also, the JP# doesn't show up on any tab other than the 1★. -Rikki21 22:15, 9 June 2016 (PDT)
- Fixed -- for the images, we're going to have to move them.KrytenKoro (talk) 05:45, 10 June 2016 (PDT)
I've done a few more switches and it seems for the rare medals (3★+) it doesn't want to put the set category. See: Phil, Hercules. It seems that if there is no 1★ it won't place the category down correctly (as Moogle is correct as well as the common medals, I assume this is the problem). Also, the spacing for the Attack/Common row is off. If it's a common medal then it looks fine, but a rare medal has the upright text and icon, as well as the target text and icon not line up. See Paine vs Phil. -Rikki21 22:11, 11 June 2016 (PDT)
Small Issue
I wanted to update the Stock Medal page using the new template, but i can't seem to make the image to show up, i even redirected it like many medal images that are already using this template http://www.khunchainedx.com/wiki/File:0_Stock.png, can you do something about this? Kikuhime (talk) 14:38, 12 June 2016 (PDT) P.S. Hey everyone. Not, i'm not fully back yet. I just came to help on some pages, that's all.
Info Medal
I prefer the Template:InfoMedal/Draft. It looks more refined and the Infobox keeps it's medal attribute color while at the same time it shows that it's an Upright/Reversed medal. Kikuhime (talk) 11:15, 15 June 2016 (PDT)
- I agree. -Rikki21 13:39, 15 June 2016 (PDT)
- That's unanimous consent to have 90% of the colors changed back, but Shard suggested investigating whether we keep just the header in U/R colors. How does everyone feel about that?KrytenKoro (talk) 15:16, 15 June 2016 (PDT)
- I suggest going for a dual color, like, one side the Attribute color and one side Yellow or Purple on the header. Because the Yellow is too bright and the Purple it's too dark. Not sure if that dual color thing can be done. Kikuhime (talk) 17:00, 15 June 2016 (PDT)
- I believe it could, but it would probably have to be done as images. I've seen similar done before, and it's very complex coding. I've made a request here for assistance.KrytenKoro (talk) 17:17, 15 June 2016 (PDT)
- Bulbapedia uses dual colours for its templates on dual-typed Pokémon. Maybe implement whatever they use? N. Harmonik (talk) 18:48, 15 June 2016 (PDT)
- If dual colors don't work out, I like the idea of not having U/R at the top. It makes the infobox look more consistent throughout the template. Chainoffire 19:25, 16 June 2016 (PDT)
